About CONCACAF Nations League
The CONCACAF Nations League is an international men's association football competition contested by the senior national teams of the 41 member associations of CONCACAF. Operating across three tiered divisions, the tournament runs during FIFA international match windows from autumn through the following spring. Beyond crowning a regional continental champion, the tournament serves as the primary qualification pathway for the CONCACAF Gold Cup and replaces international friendlies with high-stakes competitive fixtures across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Top teams
The United States has set the championship benchmark in the tournament's history, claiming multiple consecutive titles since the inaugural edition. Mexico and Canada battle alongside the Americans at the sharp end of League A, pushed by perennial Central American and Caribbean contenders such as Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and Honduras. The competition features intense regional rivalries, where difficult away fixtures in Central America and the Caribbean present physical and atmospheric challenges for visiting heavyweights.
Format
All 41 national associations are divided into three tiers based on rankings: League A (16 teams), League B (16 teams), and League C (9 teams). In League A, the top-ranked teams receive byes directly into the quarterfinals, while the remaining twelve sides compete in two six-team groups using a modified Swiss-system schedule playing four matches. The top two from each group join the seeded teams in two-legged home-and-away quarterfinals in November. The four quarterfinal winners advance to the single-elimination CONCACAF Nations League Finals in March, featuring semifinals, a third-place match, and the championship game. Promotion and relegation operate across all three tiers between tournament cycles.
Viewership
In the United States, English-language media rights are carried across FOX Sports networks (FOX, FS1, and FS2) alongside the FOX Sports app, while Spanish-language broadcasting is delivered by TelevisaUnivision across Univision, TUDN, and the ViX streaming platform. In Canada, live coverage of the national team and marquee ties is broadcast by OneSoccer and Telus Optik TV. For international territories and territories without exclusive broadcast packages, matches stream via Concacaf GO and the confederation's official YouTube channel. High-profile rivalry clashes and the Final Four rounds consistently generate strong television ratings and fill major North American NFL stadiums.
